Oregon has been home to numerous award-winning projects over the years. These include the multi-Oscar wins for “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” (shot in Salem and Depoe Bay) and the short animated film “Closed Mondays” which was created by Will Vinton and Bob Gardner and won the Best Short Film Oscar which was won again years later by Oregon animator Joan Gratz for her “Mona Lisa Descending a Staircase.”
More recently Oregon was home to the studio and the talent that created the Oscar-winning animated feature “Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio” and contributed to the Emmy-winning series “Trinkets” (Netflix), “Portlandia” (IFC), “In the Know” (Peacock) and “Shōgun” (FX/Hulu).
Additionally, Oregon is also home to many celebrated and iconic productions that still bring visitors to many parts of the state. These include “The Goonies” (Astoria and Cannon Beach), “Stand By Me” (Brownsville and Cottage Grove), “Wild” (Bend, Ashland, and Crater Lake), and even the Western Musical “Paint Your Wagon” (Baker County and the Eagle Cap Wilderness). Many of these iconic locations can be found on the Oregon Film Trail which currently encompasses over 40 signs across all parts of the state.
Oregon continues to be a destination for creative media producers from around the world. From Emmy-winning television productions to Oscar-nominated feature films; world-class animation to award-winning interactive games, Oregon is a brand unto itself.
